What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an invention marathon. Students come together to build cool software & hardware hacks over 24-48 hours. It’s very beginner friendly.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Attending a hackathon is free. Every meal will be catered. We plan to provide buses from the University of Waterloo, the University of Toronto, and Laurentian University at least. Register your interest and we’ll see if we can get a bus to your school too. We’ll try our best to reimburse other travel expenses for those in the middle of nowhere. Want to help sponsor these efforts? Get in touch.

Do I need to be a student to attend?

Yes. Only students who are currently enrolled at a college / university / high school or have graduated within the past 12 months are eligible to attend.

Not a student? We'd love to have you as a mentor to help the young'uns with their hacks. Shoot us an email.

Any other requirements?

You cannot start working on your project before SooHacks begins.

Teams are 1-4 people.

Where is the event?
